My Off The Wall HIStory with Michael Jackson

Pakistanis were running wild during world cup fever in 1992, and one could sense the victory through some catchy lyrics by Junoon.
And on other hand West was going through a transition from Hairy Hard Rock Lead by GNR, to softer tone rock, by NIRVANA which opened way for alternative rock.
At the same time a group of kids with young Michael on leads were making news from Motown 25 in blue jazz kinda music.

It is the same time when my cousins who had been studying in states send me a cassette, with a title Metallica Demo, and they told me it’s the NEW THING on the arena.
And it Rocks 10times faster and louder than others, you have listen from the second track of side A coz first is of Michael Jackson.

I was so Naïve that I didn’t even knew how a cassette player works so I told my Bro to just put the cassette in.
And Then all I remember is Some Drum Beats at the beginning and
Help Me Sing It, Ma Ma Se,
Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa
Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa,

Yup it was the “Wanna Be Startin’ Something”
From then onward my collection of Rock and Metal always had MJ .As Michael was not only an artist he was an amazing marketing personality at his time.
People misunderstood him; most of his controversies and allegations were due to bad Perception created by the media.

The relationship with Media and Michael Jackson could be summarized through this statement by MJ
“if you people would publish that Michael Jackson Is an Alien from Mars and eats alive chicken and performs a voodoo dance at midnight people would be believe you and if I say the same thing they would say Michael is nuts”

MJ kicked his solo career from Off The Wall in 1979, which sold over 20 million copies and singles like “Don’t Stop Till You get Enough” and “Rock With You” were the highlights of the album. These Tracks were not only inspirational from Artistic point of view but gave the inside on what Michael aspires for. It is the same year when he broke his nose during complex dancing routine which were affecting his singing.

Then it 1982 when he contributed in the sound tracks and album for the movie E.T
Then it was the same year when all great phenomenon of “Thriller” came out. During its release Michael did went through some Treatment regarding is nose fracture.
Seven singles from Thriller concurrently hit the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, including "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". Thriller went on to sell upwards of 109 million copies, making it the best-selling album of all time. According to some biographer, Thriller was selling like a household product and single handedly took Pop Music industry to new level.

Thriller featured “Beat It” which had Eddie Van halen on guitar with his trade mark riffs; this showed the artistry of MJ by collaborating with rock legends of that time, as it was rock mayhem at that time,
MTV used to air only rock songs, then a more then 14mins video of thriller, it was very hard to get an air time to a pop video which is over 14mins.But eventually Thriller aired and it was such a big phenomenon that it was shown in different schools, to educate the students about the new trend and innovative technology of that time.

Brilliance of SMOOTH CRIMINAL.

After the epic commercial success of Thriller, Michael went through a couple of nose and face surgeries, which would help him with his vocals and to eradicate the brutal childhood and adolescence experiences.
There was enormous expectation in the fans as, thriller was huge. On other Hand Michael Signed deal to endorse Pepsi, in couple of advertisements, which were not only, planned marketing strategy for Pepsi but also BAD album.
Series of ads featuring bad title song were on recorded during which MJ suffered from scull injury which was caused when he had to walk through fire effects at his back ,which caught his hair and Michael had go through another surgery.
This created a buzz in the industry, today which is now known as viral marketing. Then finally Bad Video which was directed by Martin Scorsese was aired after the most watched TV show Simpson, so avail the attention of maximum audience, the original full length video was about 17mins long in which Wesley snipes stared as “Mini Max”.
Then after the release of the album it became Michael’s 3rd best seller of all time after “Dangerous”, and it was the first album till now whose 5 tracks landed on 1st spot on Billboard.
As BAD was going towards its success journey, Michael Jackson was seen with a chimp, which also featured in “Liberian Girl” (A must have song), with over 10 well known names from Hollywood, like Steven Spielberg.
Other Highlight was Smooth criminal video, in which he did anti gravity lean, which were made possible by state of the art shoes specially created for Michael to lean more than 45 degree.
Then a trend was set by Michael to make Videos of almost all of his tracks from the album. It was the same time when Michael bought a place, now called “NeverLand Ranch”.
It was the same time when pictures of Michael sleeping in a Hyperbolic Chamber were published which sparked a new debated about Michael. Which were further fueled by unconfirmed news about kids sleeping in his bedroom at Neverland.
From then onward it’s the same allegations which are repeated in 2002, in an interview with Martin Bashir on BBC, then they were again raised in 2005 case, even people like Eminem abused him in his songs.

Reply by the Man In The Mirror

It was like whole Industry was going overboard with Michael, but did Michael said anything about Media, people who made a mockery out of him,
Michael replied with

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .
I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change

A person who tells other, if someone has to change, it is the man in the mirror who needs a change, if world needs to be a better place, can never be bad in any sense
Again he describes the basic concept of Change Management. It also showed what kind of a person he was and why he would be remembered and respected
his organization for disable children which is known as Heal the World Foundation, also reflected the same intention of making a better world .
I remember he even apologized publicly for hanging his baby out of balcony, now how many of our leaders or any politicians apologize after billion dollar scams?
How many of us apologies after hitting our infant child??
But He did, that’s a person who deserves to be called as good human not us, only coz he had surgeries he becomes an alien for us?
What about the wicked people like our leaders who put on the mask of innocence to make fool out of poor?
No one says about them that they have a fake mask on their faces: P :P
